Musicians, singers, circus artists, Broadway and theater performers are analogous to athletes. All require regular practice. Performances are like competitions or games. Both performers and athletes can suffer from overuse injuries and sudden-onset injuries.

Each musical instrument requires a different combination of muscles and technique to master similar to differing use of muscles depending on the sport you play. Some injuries are more common than others depending on the musical instrument played.

Dr. Shah has treated several musicians, Broadway Performers, Actors, Circus performers throughout her career. She understands biomechanics of movement and injury patterns so that she can help diagnose and manage musculoskeletal pain and injuries. She plays the piano and has performed on stage in both theatrical and musical productions.
