Sports Medicine

Sports Medicine encompasses a broad range of skills – from serving as a team physician standing on the sidelines ready to handle any possible emergency, to managing an athlete with a medical condition that affects performance, to traveling with the athletes during competition, to managing a nagging injury.

Though joint or muscle aches and pains are common, not all are simply sprains or strains. Subtle differences in symptoms and clinical exam findings can result in vastly different diagnoses.

As a board certified sports medicine physician, Dr. Shah utilizes her skills as a board certified internal medicine physician to methodologically diagnose and manage injuries. She spends time asking questions and performing a pertinent physical exam. She then discusses possible options, as appropriate, and outlines potential treatment paths with patients to jointly formulate a treatment plan. As Dr. Shah continues to see her patients, additional options may be added or removed depending on the progress.
